Being a Palestinian Googler has brought many emotions to the surface over the years, like immense joy, support, and care. But after watching what happened in Gaza in 2020, the loudest one has been disappointment. Seeing leaders and colleagues express grief and sorrow only for Israeli colleagues and blatantly ignoring the majority of those affected, I truly realized how deep the ties are within Google to the Israeli war waged on Palestinians. It has become impossible to express any opinion of disagreement of the war waged on Palestinians without being called into a HR meeting with the threat of retaliation and accused of antisemitism. I’m increasingly afraid of what the future holds.
