As an Arab American Google worker I felt heartbroken to learn that my company signed onto Project Nimbus. This contract will do further damage to our Palestinian users who are already experiencing the daily impacts of technology-aided human rights abuses at the hands of an apartheid government and military as it is. Project Nimbus makes me feel ashamed to work here. I have felt similarly saddened bearing witness to all of the ways I have seen my company silence my Palestinian colleagues by retaliating against those who speak up for human rights. Hundreds of us have signed a petition; I just hope our company will stop ignoring its own workers and do the right thing.
